How many minutes/ or hours(?) does it take you from Tokyo to Nagoya?

..were gonna work in japan, and unfortunately one of my friends is assigned in nagoya…and were gonna rent an apartment in tokyo..thanx for your answers!

If you take Shinkansen bullet train, it takes about 2 hours from Tokyo station to Nagoya station. But it would take more. So you can say that it would take about 3 hours.
BTW, it takes a lot of money. Who pays it?
You can’t take room share in one apartment all together. Nagoya is not neighbor city from Tokyo. It’s a lot of distance like between Los Angeles and Tijuana. You can imagine it takes time and costs too much easily.
Nagoya is more in Central Japan while Tokyo is in Eastern Japan, they are not neighboring cities.
If you both rent an apartment in Tokyo and he is traveling to Nagoya everyday he’d better be rich considering how many time’s he’ll have to ride the bullet train each week, you can just buy a house in Nagoya for that much money.
Anycase it costs about 10500 yen (about 110 US dollars) one way ticket and takes about 1 hr 50 minutes one way from Tokyo to Nagoya by Shinkansen “bullet train”.
As you can see everyday he would need to pay 21000 yen or about 220 US dollars to travel back and forth.
So it is best if you two lived separately in separate cities.
