I am going to Tokyo for 6 moths for part of my gap year. I want to attempt to learn Japanese.
I know Japan is one of the most expensive places but would it be less expensive if I stayed in with a friend who already has an apartment there? It is a one bedroom but its big enough for both of us. I would share the rent and stuff.
Would that be cheaper than getting a place my self?

I know it depends on the area and the size of the apartment, etc. but just generally how much to they cost? Also if you can give me some links to some information?

Have already been to Japan for 2 years, so basic info will not help as I already know it. Loved Japan and am looking to move back for a lengthy stay. My question is: How do I rent a HOUSE in anywhere other than Tokyo (so cliche). I have a border collie and she would go nuts in an apartment. Looking around Shizuoka-ken. Any ideas?

I know most of the basic greetings, some foods, weather, and numbers. And I know I need to know a lot more.

Are there any more books that I can buy, that would help me learn faster?
And if there is a web site that is good to visit?

I cant spend that much money on stuff but if it’s somewhere between, $20-150, good quality, new, not used [for a book]

And also, about Jinmeiyo kanji. Is there a book I can buy for that, because I haven’t been able to find a good web site for it. And even if there was a web site my computer wont translate it into Japanese. It’s just a bunch of squares, and Im not allowed to download anything…

I was also wondering about Hokkaido, Japan.

Is it better to live there then in Tokyo or Osaka? I love the snow, so it sounds like the best place to fit me.
Is it expensive or a good price there?
What colleges/universities have dorms, if any.
Are there any colleges/universities for fashion design?
If not what about for anime?

I know im asking alot of questions, but the more I ask the more points I lose!

Ok, I’m flying to Japan on November 15th, will arrive late on the 16th, I will have a short term apartment in Tokyo for a month. I will also have a 21 day rail pass, I am planning on exploring tokyo a bit, and exploring the rest of the country until my rail pass expires, I want to see the hokkaido area, as well as Osaka and Kyoto, The other must do thing I have to do is to visit the Ghibli Museum, anything else that I *must* do?

hello everyone, i’m going to stay in japan for 1 year and half, starting from
October as a student.

I’ll need to rent an apartment (i prefer with private bathroom and kitchen, even very small and not so new, i dont care).

You think 60-65,000 yen/month is enough as budget for renting a place like that?

Also, when should i start looking for an apartment and contacting the agencies? (i will enter japan approx on 1st-2nd October)
