Paris, lucky you!
For 5 person, it’ll be very expensive to rent something of reasonable size in Paris. Most of the apartments in Paris are small, and if you want to look for anything with 3-4 bedrooms the prices are between €1500 to €2000 in the 18eme.
However, just across the Boulevard Peripherique you’ll be coming to the suburb, and Saint Ouen will be the closest suburb neighbourhood to the hospital. Here 3-4 bedrooms place would cost between €1200 to €1400. There is a famous flea market at St Ouen.
Most rentals in Paris are unfurnished. It’ll be difficult to find furnished apartments and they would be more expensive too. Most people I know searches for apartments in Paris by checking at the different agencies in the area they’re interested in living in, so I don’t know of a good site to rent for cheap apartment. Maybe try SeLoger? (http://www.seloger.com/)
Hope this is helpful to some extent until there’s someone on Y!A that lives in the area and can give more information.
