Can I rent an apartment in New York on visitor (B1) visa?

I am visiting US for my exams and interviews and I think hotels are too expensive.I need an apart ment for around 3-4 months while on visitor visa.Thanx

No one will ask to see your visa status for renting an apartment. Your problem is finding one that is rentable for just a few months. I would suggest Craig’s list. You say you are here for exams. Most American unviersities maintain an office which helps students find housing, so if you are taking exams at a local unviversity, they might be able to help.
It will be very difficult to find a short-term rental for only 3 to 4 months. Especially, since you are a foreigner, you will probably have to put down a large deposit or purchase a non-refundable bond.
