I’m thinking of moving to London in the UK. What do you guess the average monthly rent for a room in Zone 2 is?

im not much help in this question since i never lived in london but my brother lived in england for a year and i know that they do not charge by the month in london for rooms or apartments, they charge by the week there.
don’t move to zone 2, stay in zone 3. the average rent in zone 3 itself is around £350-400/month
I’ll give you an indication of some of the rents from my own student experience.
Central London (nice: £200-£300 a week)
Based on a one bedroom flat in kensington
Central London (Ok: £130 – 170)
Based on a shared house (4-5 people) around Kensington
Central London (okish £80 – £110)
Based on basement/share house around Fulham/Hammersmith
Further Out
Acton: £250-350 a month
Camberwell: £250-350 a month
Battersea: £300-400 a month
To be honest, this is a rough guide to what I found when I looked for properties. It all depends on what you want. We paid £297 a month for the flat in Acton and it was a proper scrubber place. In Camberwell it was a really new nice place and even though its roughly 40 mins from victoria by bus it still cost £350 a month.
I would say Fulham/Hammersmith/Olympia are great places, they’re roughy £400-500 a month, close to central london, good nightlife and good mix of people.
